Webinar: Advancing the Physician-Dietitian Intersection in Research, Practice, and Policy

October 9, 2025

Nutrition is foundational to health, yet it remains underrepresented in clinical decision-making and policy. An abundance of barriers, including food and nutrition insecurity, how food is marketed and advertised, access/affordability of healthy foods, and behavioral challenges stand in the way of healthier dietary patterns for many Americans.1 But here’s the good news: Interprofessional teams—especially the physician-dietitian alliance—can drive impactful research, help integrate Food is Medicine (FIM) programs into care, and advocate for the creation and implementation of nutrition-forward policy.

Join Kristen Hicks-Roof, PhD, RDN, LDN, FAND, FNAP, on Thursday, October 9, 2025, from 2-3:30 p.m. ET, for a webinar that explores how collaboration between the physician and dietitian – and across the entire care team – can strengthen patient care and health outcomes and have a transformative effect on health care overall. Whether you work in clinical care, private practice, academia, or administration, you’ll walk away with actionable strategies to elevate nutrition across the continuum of care and within the care team.

Learning Objectives

After completing this continuing education activity, health care professionals will better be able to:

  1. Identify at least three opportunities where the health care team can partner to improve clinical outcomes through integrated care models.
  2. Describe how Food is Medicine (FIM) initiatives can be co-led and strengthened by physician-dietitian collaboration.
  3. Outline ways both professions can jointly be involved in nutrition-related research and public policy at the system level.
  4. Analyze the value of interdisciplinary education and communication in promoting nutrition as a core element of patient-centered care.
