Webinar: When Autism Comes to the Table: Interprofessional Strategies for Mealtime and Beyond

June 10, 2025

Parents, caregivers, and health care professionals treating people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) know the essential role mealtime interactions play in the social and emotional development of this population. They serve as a crucial roadmap for individuals with ASD and influence this group’s future social abilities and relationships outside the home. Beyond mealtime, communication strategies, modeling, boundary setting, and creating safe spaces – just to name a few – are additional principles that play an impactful role in the clinician’s and caregiver’s ability to help create and support a sustainable future for those with ASD.

Join Sharon Lemons, MS, RD, CDCES, FAND, LD, and Jennifer Meyer, MA, CCC-SLP, on Tuesday, June 10, from 2-3:30 p.m. ET, for an interprofessional webinar that will lay the groundwork for successful interactions among those with ASD, both within family dynamics and beyond. By focusing on the nuances of communication, sensory experiences, and meal planning, Sharon and Jennifer will equip the care team with the tools they need to support individuals with ASD. Learn to create an inclusive and nurturing table environment through enhanced communication techniques, improved social skills, and actionable strategies for promoting balanced nutrition, all while fostering positive and engaging dining experiences. This transformative session will empower clinicians and caregivers alike to make mealtimes – and life as a whole – a joyful and socially enriching experience for individuals with ASD.
