Webinar: Plant-Based Diets in CKD Care: An Interprofessional Approach to Improving Patient Outcomes
There is increasing evidence that shows how a plant-forward diet pattern can slow chronic kidney disease (CKD) progression, reduce mortality risk, improve metabolic markers and a patient's quality of life. To best promote a plant-based diet, an interdisciplinary approach must be coordinated.
In this dynamic session, you’ll explore the latest research on plant-based diets in kidney care, including both the benefits and challenges. Learn how to address common concerns with confidence, including potassium, protein, phosphorus, and lingering stigmas, and discover how an interdisciplinary team can work together to build tailored, sustainable nutrition plans that meet each patient where they are.
Join Edith Yang, RDN, CSR, CLT, FAND, on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, from 2-3:30 p.m. ET, for an interdisciplinary webinar that will guide attendees through a practical and collaborative framework that unites dietitians, nephrologists, pharmacists, and social workers. See how team-based communication and evidence-driven care can help patients break through adherence barriers and thrive on a plant-based path.
Learning Objectives
After completing this contuing education activity, health care professionals will better be able to:
- Evaluate clinical evidence on plant-based diets and the impact they can have on chronic kidney disease (CKD) progression, mortality risk, and metabolic outcomes.
- Implement plant-based nutrition strategies while managing potassium, phosphorus, and protein needs successfully.
- Improve collaboration across the interprofessional care team through understanding team-based decision making that supports and ensures patient dietary adherence.
