Join Barbara Messinger-Rapport, MD, the owner/founder of SAVVE (Special Assessment of Very Vulnerable Elders), for a webinar that explores how to identify behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD), offers practical guidance for caregivers navigating driving concerns, and examines the legal implications of firearm possession under cognitive disability, with summaries of relevant laws from multiple states.
Learning Objectives
Following the completion of this session, learners will be able to
- Explore the pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions and management of dementia-related behaviors.
- Identify the members of the health care team and the multidisciplinary approach providers use to provide patient-centered care and improve health outcomes for dementia patients.
- Discuss the strategies social workers and care managers can use to navigate the challenges in caring for dementia patients associated with disruptive behaviors, driving safety, firearm safety, and psychological symptoms.

Dr. Messinger-Rapport is the owner/founder of SAVVE (Special Assessment of Very Vulnerable Elders) in Cleveland, Ohio, where she assesses safety concerns regarding financial exploitation, driving, firearms, and difficult behavior in older adults. She is also a Medical Director for Oak Street Health. She was the Medical Director of Vinney Palliative and Hospice Care of Menorah Park Senior Living and Director of Geriatric Medicine at Cleveland Clinic.
